Thank you for your prayers. They might have actrually done some good. My mom was alert, responsive, able to recognize people and obey commands. She ate solid food (pudding) and as able to swallow water. She isn't out of the woods yet, but at least she is out of the deep woods. I am awating the results of the next cat scan, and it will take months for the blood to drain from her brain, but she should become more responsive as the blood drains. The doctor gave a prognosis of a possible 60% recovery of the use of her right side, and, depending on the level of damage, about the same rate of recovery for her speech.
My brother, step-father and I visit every morning, from about 9:00 to 4:00, and we were about to give up hope until, about 12:30, she woke up, reached out with her left hand(the working one), and grabbed my right hand. The nurse/physical therapist came in (since mom was alert) and tested her reflexes. The left side is fine, she has some feeling in her right leg and foot (a GOOD sign) and not much feeling in her right arm. When asked if she could squeeze her right hand, she reached over with her left hand and squeezed her right hand. If you wonder where I get my sense of humor from, there it is.
